4 Tips For First-Time Zip Line Riders
A zip line provides a thrilling experience, but riders will want to make the best of everything when they go on for the first time. Whether you go on a traditional zip line or a novelty attraction like a zoo zip line, there are some tips to follow to get through your first time.
Follow each tip and truly enjoy your experience on a zip line.
1. Wear Tight Clothes
When you get strapped into a harness, the straps wrap tightly around your body for secure protection. If you wear loose or baggy clothing, the clothes may bunch up, especially in the groin area. The last thing you want to worry about is uncomfortable clothes. A tight pair of athletic pants is ideal for the bottom.
A performance shirt is ideal for the top. The harness will fit more comfortably, and you will have more flexibility as you zip line. If you go on an adventure like a zoo zip line course, then consider a change of clothes for afterward. The whole process may cause you to sweat a lot, and you will feel refreshed with extra clothes.
2. Relax Your Hands
As you cruise down a zip line, you may naturally grip the zip line rope as tight as you can. You don't have to. A zip line is made to support a person whether they hold on or not. The rope is mainly to stabilize your body. If you constantly grip really hard, then you could cause blisters to form.
Keep a loose and casual grip on the rope. After your first couple of rides, you will learn how to gain better control and keep yourself balanced without so much pressure on the hands.
3. Do Look Down
The phrase "don't look down" is commonly used in reference to heights, but when you zip line, some of the best memories are made by looking down. You can see the Earth below and all the natural wonders. When you look down at a specialty location like a zoo zip line, you can take in the sights of animals and other attractions.
4. Go Last
If possible, volunteer to go last on the zip line. Watch everyone else go and really take in their positions, speed, and the way they went across the zip line. You can see how different body positions and hand positions impact the flight. You can also quell any fears after you see other zip across the line.
