How to Keep the Furniture and Décor Clean at Your Backyard Wedding

Posted on

There are a variety of benefits to take advantage of when planning a backyard wedding, such as being able to make use of natural décor and the opportunity to save lots of money on your venue expenses. But it's important to think about how you'll keep your rental furniture and décor protected from the dust and debris that are sure to be uninvited guests at the event. Here are four things you can do to keep things clean at your backyard wedding.

Wrap the Legs in Plastic

An excellent way to keep the furniture you rent from a company like Party People Rentals & Sales clean and in like-new condition is to wrap all of the legs in plastic. Start by using oversized see-through garbage bags or industrial strength plastic wrap to cover each leg. Then secure the wraps in place with transparent packing tape. Make sure that the wrapping is tightly secure, but there's no need to worry about how attractive the legs are when you're done.

Finish up by wrapping all the legs with colorful flower leis, pieces of lace, satin cloth, or another type of material that complements the rest of your décor. Nobody will ever see the plastic underneath. After the wedding festivities are over, you can simply remove the material and plastic before returning the furniture to the rental store.

Have Custom Covers Made

Having custom covers made for all of the tables and chair seats is another interesting way to protect the furniture from getting dirty during your wedding. The covers can feature a short slogan that commemorates the union between you and your soon-to-be spouse. Alternatively, you can have photos of you and your partner printed on the covers or have the covers designed to fit in with the rest of your décor. Make sure that the covers are large enough that they hang at least three inches over the edges of the table tops and chair seats so they'll be less likely to get moved around and fall off.

Lay Down Some Carpeting

You can protect the furniture, décor, and your guests' feet by laying down some carpeting around the yard. Check with local hotels and office buildings to see if they have any leftover rolls of carpeting that they're willing to sell you for less than you'd pay for it in the store. Carpeting companies may also have leftover pieces from rolls they have cut for customers or carpeting that's been returned for some reason that you can score for a discount.

Before the rental furniture arrives, ask the rental company to provide you with dimensions for the tables and chairs that will be delivered for your wedding so you can cut the carpeting to fit like mats underneath each piece. You can also create a runway with the carpeting to walk down while getting married. Place large pieces of carpet in front of food tables and on the designated dance area too.

Use Netting for Protection

You'll want to protect the venue's food and refreshments from dust and debris without limiting access to your guests by keeping it inside the house or in an enclosed porch. For effective, attractive, and convenient protection, set your food tables up underneath some trees that are near the rest of the event's furniture and attractions and then hang netting from the trees around the sides and back edges of the tables. This will enable guests to easily access the food at the front of the tables, and will keep dirt and dust from being blown onto the tables from all other directions.

These tips and tricks should make it easy to keep your furniture and décor nice and clean throughout your wedding day without creating any eyesores that will affect your guests.
